TD-Racing One Speed Hub

PostAuthor: TheDude on Mon Oct 29, 2007 8:27 pm

First, about "TheDude" Who is this guy selling us this stuff?

Those of you who know me know that I've engineered designed, done stress analysis and destructive testing of upgrade parts for the MGT. Now Iv'e added the LST2 to my design target.
My mission is to design or assist in the design, fabricate hop up parts that make a difference, not just a copy whith bling added,,,. I close the gap between what you, the true RC users want and whats available.

Now, on to my LST work..
Since we have come to a production phase of the design of this mod I thought it would make sense to compile the info into one topic to be clear.
First the link where all this started for new readers,,,
viewtopic.php?f=42&t=8122&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
henryk first submitted and designed the need for this part. I offered to assist him to make it a production pc. as he felt that it would be a part that many would want, and he was right. So I adopted his design and conformed it to machining and production.

NOTE! Due to popular demand the spacer is now part of the kit.

It was too confusing to include the shipping costs in the hubs in the event that someone ordered more than one.

Prices
1 Racing hub with the spacer is $40.00 IN STOCK
1 Bashing economy hub is $34.00 DISCONTINUED DUE TO LACK OF DEMAND

Shipping for up to 5 hubs ANYWHERE OTHER THAN THE US is $8.00
Shipping for up to 5 hubs WITHIN the US is $4.00

"How do I get one of these mamajammas?"
You can purchase these and other TD-Racing products from my website http://www.tdracingrc.com

Assembly Instructions-
The fit on these is a heat slip fit, nice and tight,,.
To install the cam all you do is warm the hub. You should use a heat gun or even a hairdryer will work. Just warm the hub, align the flats and push the cam in. Tap it in to seat it nice and tight, let it cool and It's locked on. Screw on your spur and it's done.

DO NOT HEAT THE HUB HOTTER THAN YOU CAN TOUCH! And, please,,, no burnt fingers!!!

Duder, you da man! Those MGT parts - nicely designed and manufactured.

He helped me select and purchase a lathe and milling machine. Very handy items to have for the RC hobby. TheDude knows his stuff and is currently working on an extremely interesting engineering project, which will hopefully wean us off of dependency on fossil fuels.

Duder, what's that link to your project in France, so these guys can see?

Thanks man,, Wifey made them up for me last night. I thought the slogan might be a bit cheeeezy, but I get sick of seeing hop-ups that only improve the bling factor. Most of the time they only make them aluminum so they can dye anodize them. The part hasn't been improved really, just made of aluminum which in some cases was unesassary.
Next step is to get the website up so you guys can order off there. Searching/organizing PMs for part, qty, paypal addy, mailing address, forum name vs. email addy takes too long and can get cumbersome and disorganized. I'll get around to it someday,, haha

Yep, 2 of my designed parts are now knockoffs, my MGT Upper A Arm Mounts and Alum 7075 Tranny outdrive cups. Fact is, when a company notices the demand for them they get them made in china for less and I move on to another part thats needed. No sense in pattoning this stuff really.

Thanks Guys! LOL Group hug!

Both knockoffs are a bit different than mine. The mounts max stress on thiers is near the outside of the hingepin hole. Mine transferes the load down to the chassis where it's strongest. The cups are made out of a weaker 7000 series Al.

Sold one of the extra hubs I had to a racer buddy at the track this weekend and wouldn't you know it he bets me with it. LOL. Ten minute main I was 2 laps down at the start (stupid me decided to switch hubs just before the main and didn't get the cvd in the drive cup. ) Finish third fun race. Parts work just like I expected. :)

Thanks.

I have 3 hubs in stock. One of which is an economy model. The economy is for those folks who aren't concerned with weight. It does not have the center ring of holes or the taper machining. It weighs 0.5grams more. It fits and works the same. It is $27.00 US

PM me if you need a hub.

I guess I'm missing something, what exactly does this thing do? It just converts it to single speed so you can use a normal pinion or a single speed adapter? In order to have the esc do the reversing, you'd still need a forward only conversion right?

Yes, it is designed to eliminate the 2 speed clutch, clutch housing/bearing, OWB bearing and 2nd spur.
You can use the FD pinion for the 5 mm shaft or I also have a colleted pinion that uses no setscrew.
viewtopic.php?f=42&t=11818
Yes on the FOC. It will cut down the weight eliminating reversing drivetrain that you dont need.

Maybe some of the more experienced BS guys can give more detail on using the esc or drivetrain for reverse.

You've got it down pat. :) To have reverse you'll need a bl setup that has a reverse profile.

I am trying to install the cam into the one speed hub and it will not go in all the way. It is lined up properly. Should there be a gap or should it be flush against the back of the hub?

It should be flush and seat all the way to the flange on the 2 speed cam. http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_inf ... ts_id/5907

It is made to be a tap in/press fit to eliminate slop. Just hold the hub in your palm and tap on the cam with a small hammer until it seats against the flange.
