Well I can vouch that so far in the snow that micron screening is doing a great job of keeping the foams dry! I was very skeptical of this but ave seen the trueth in person.
I have recieved an email from motor saver here is what it said:
Me
"Thank you very much! I look forward to helping out in any way I can. Right now I'm in the mittle of a Canadian winter, would you also like me to test in the snow? As of right now I have built my own water sheild for the filter that I am using, you are saying with your new '09 filters this won't be needed? The rest of my vehicle is water proofed so i have no problems testing in wet and muddy conditions. I have a feeing that a sheild of some sort would probably be a good idea but I will take your word for it and give it a go with out and see how it makes out."
Motor Saver
"The screen we are using is now water repellent, which will allow the engine to breathe in moist conditions. But, you are right, if it's in a prolonged wet condition the water will find its way through the foam to the engine. We are not sure how long that might be, e.g., 1 tank of gas, 4 tanks of gas, 10 tanks of gas, etc. That number could be very helpful. If your are concerned about ruining your motor, which could happen, I would not suggest doing that test. At a later date we might design a water deflector that could solve all those problems."
Personally I know I plan to push for a water/snow/mud gard.
